The Radiology Handbook !LINK!

In the past several years, the rapid development of sophisticated imaging modalities has made radiology the fastest growing specialty in medicine. It is important for the radiologic technologist to keep pace with technology's advancements.

The Radiology Handbook

This handbook is provided so you will understand the philosophy, conceptual framework, program outcomes, objectives, expected behaviors, and policies of the Associate Degree Radiologic Technology Program. You are expected to be familiar with the content of this handbook and are accountable for following the guidelines provided. This handbook does not replace the college catalog; therefore, both the Radiologic Technology Student Handbook and the College Catalog policies and procedures must be followed. You will need to read this information carefully and sign on the back page. Your signature indicates you understand and agree to abide by the policies.

Students are referred to the SC4 Student services section of the handbook or website if they have a grievance that cannot be resolved through the Radiologic Technology Program chain of command. To get to the SC4 Due Process Policy students need to get on the SC4 website, go under the SC4 Portal, go under Student Resources, and type in the search line the Due Process Policy.

Students should attempt to resolve concerns of JRCERT Standards Non-compliance through the Radiologic Technology Program chain of command. If a student has a concern about non-compliance with the JRCERT standards listed in this handbook, students must follow the chain of command. Students need to follow the SC4 Due Process Procedure if unable to resolve the concern under the chain of command.

The radiology program is a two-year program leading to an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree (60 credit hours). The program begins in the Spring Semester, and applications are accepted August 1 through September 30 each year. Graduates will be eligible to apply for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification Examination. The mission of the Paris Junior College Radiology Technology Program is to meet the needs of the students by offering innovative and comprehensive educational practices which will enable the student to graduate with competence for the practice of diagnostic radiology technology.

Please, let us know if you discover any errors in the handbook or slides, or if you have suggestions as to the appropriateness of the content or its level. Please, respond in writing to dosimetry@iaea.org.

Medical X-ray equipment technology has evolved exponentially in the last decades, shifting steadily from analogue to digital radiology, from single slice to multidetector-row computed tomography or from fluoroscopy to complex angiography systems. This, however, comes with associated radiation risk for patients and staff. It is therefore vital that all X-ray equipment is monitored in terms of performance to ensure accurate and safe use. Quality control (QC) represents the basic level of managing safety and quality in diagnostic radiology. This publication compiles all existing QC tests in literature for all X-ray modalities. To facilitate the use of this handbook, spreadsheets and video tutorials have been developed to help with the execution of tests.

There are a number of forms that need to be filled out to acknowledge they have reviewed information and policies or to be used for evaluations. These forms can be requested separately from the informational sections of the handbook.

The School of Radiologic Technology is an integral part of the department of radiology at UCHealth. The program is approved by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) and is approved and regulated by the Division of Private Occupational Schools, Department of Higher Education. Credentialing exam pass rate, job placement and program completion rate can be viewed at the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology website.

To receive an Associate of Applied Science degree in Radiologic Technology, the student must complete the following prerequisites and complete the radiology program at UCHealth School of Radiologic Technology:

For post-primary pathway to certification, candidates must hold registration in a supporting category and document ARRT-specified clinical experience. Further details may be found in the handbooks available for each of the post-primary certification disciplines.

3. Examination. Finally, eligibility requires candidates for certification, after having met all other qualifications, to pass an examination developed and administered by the ARRT. The exams assess the knowledge and cognitive skills underlying the intelligent performance of the tasks typically required of staff technologists practicing within the respective disciplines. Exam content is specified on this website and in the respective handbook for each discipline.

As a radiologic technologists, you have the opportunity to further your education by earning certificates in specialized fields of radiology such as mammography, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound imaging, forensics and nuclear medicine. 041b061a72
